Subject: [altnorth-nt] Rally 8am MONDAY Apr 18 - 'Where is Harper'? - Meet at Yellowknife Inn
Stephen Harper has arrived in YK... but there will be NO PUBLIC EVENT.
So it's up to us to create one.
If you have something to say to Harper, meet in front of the Yellowknife Inn, Monday (April 18) at 8:00 am.
We are not sure whether Harper is actually staying at the Inn (conflicting insider info says he is booked at the Explorer), so the plan is to do a wandering rally asking the question: "WHERE IS HARPER?" "WHERE IS DEMOCRACY?" "WHERE IS... (fill in the blank... eg. public health care; funding for housing, action on climate change, etc, etc)
We would like it to be fun, so wear a fun costume if you can. One option could be an 'ethnic' costume (since Harper is so anxious to meet the 'ethnics' in every town he visits) - this could involve anything from a kilt to lederhosen to classic northern attire. Or the idea has been floated of dressing up as a zombie with a sign saying 'Return of the Undead Democracy'. The idea is to be creative, have fun, and attract attention.
PLEASE BRING MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS if you have them. eg. fiddles, guitars, percussion.
CBC television is planning to cover the event at 8 am. Also, we will be on the CBC morning radio before the event tomorrow. So we need lots of people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
