Yellowknife's 2nd Annual Fall Harvest Fair + Potluck

Fall Harvest Fair

It's time to head out to your garden patch and find the biggest, funniest, or most unique vegetable or fruit in your garden because Yellowknife's 2nd Annual Fall Harvest Fair is just around the bend!

This year the Fall Harvest Fair will be held on September 11, 2010 (Sir John Franklin High School). The day will get started with a fish filleting workshop from 1:00-2:30pm. This workshop will be followed with a bean pickling workshop from 3:00pm-5:00pm. During the time of the workshops, there will also be a workshop for children and youth involving songs, games, and a renewable energy craft. We are asking for a $5 registration fee for the filleting and pickling workshops to cover the costs of the workshop. For the filleting workshop, please bring your own knife for filleting. For the pickling workshop, please bring your own jars & lids and beans. All other fish and pickling supplies will be provided.

The Harvest Competition will take place from 6:00- 8:00pm. All entries for the Harvest Competition must be in by 6:00pm sharp as judging begins at 6:15pm and, in the spirit of fairness, no late entries will be accepted. Winners of the judging category will be selected by popular vote. The judging categories include vegetables, pies, cakes, stews, soups, chowder, jams, jellies, chutneys and smoked fish and meat so we encourage everyone to come out and be the judge! Please see the attached list for Harvest Competition categories. Finally, we will end our evening with a delicious Community Harvest Potluck from 6:30pm-9:00pm.

This is a time to celebrate the joy of the local harvest so please tell your friends and neighbours and join us for the Fall Harvest Fair. Please note the Harvest Competition Categories will be listed on our website at www.ecologynorth.ca
