"...According to a recent report by the Public Health Agency in Canada, eight out of every 100,000 Albertans were expected to have infectious syphilis in 2009. That's double the national average of 4.2 and second only to the Northwest Territories, where the projected 2009 infection rate was 161.7 of every 100,000. The northern territory had 41 confirmed syphilis cases in 2009, including one baby born with the disease. Many of those cases can be linked to Alberta, since there is an active travel corridor between Edmonton to Yellowknife...."
