Radio Regen is seeking a part-time Community Radio Journalism Coordinator to run a project to develop speech radio output by volunteers at Wythenshawe FM – a community radio station based in a deprived area of South Manchester. This is a unique opportunity to participate in the UK's emerging community radio sector.

Radio Regen is one of the country's leading community radio development agencies. The charity has set up three full-time community radio stations in Manchester and works with The Manchester College to provide radio training opportunities in the city.

The Community Radio Journalism project is funded by The Scott Trust Foundation and aims to establish the sustainable provision of broadcast journalism at Wythenshawe FM, both to enhance the personal development of project participants and to raise the awareness of the station's listeners, particularly about local issues.

The Community Radio Journalism Coordinator will be responsible for delivering training to volunteers in key journalistic skills and establishing a volunteer Editorial Group to create speech output for Wythenshawe FM. You will have experience of radio journalism, strong radio production skills and a positive and motivating approach to working with volunteers, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. An understanding of the issues that affect disadvantaged areas is also required.

• Salary: £18,270 per annum pro rata + 5% contributory pension

• 2 days per week (15 hours)

• 1 year fixed term contract initially

• Based in central Wythenshawe, Manchester
