Call for #Performing #Artists
Artist Collaboration Workshop and Performance, #NWTWellness Conference
#Deadline to apply: January 31, 2014
Together with the second annual NWT Wellness Conference (February 21-23, 2014 in #Yellowknife), the #NWT Wellness Society invites performing artists of the NWT to apply to participate in an Artist Collaboration Workshop and Performance led by keynote speaker, Music Therapist Jennifer Buchanan and facilitated by local performing artist, Pat Braden.
The goal of this project is for performing artists to explore the healing properties of music and how it can be used, at a personal and community level, as a pathway to healing. In this interactive workshop setting, artists will work together to create a 30-minute musical collaboration to be performed at the close of the second annual conference, Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 5:00 PM.
Selected artists will be given a pass to the conference ($30 value) but more importantly, have the opportunity to learn from each other and directly from Music Therapist Jennifer Buchanan. It is the Society's hope that participating artists will incorporate these teachings in their own musical experiences and continue to apply them in a way that benefits their community.
Chosen artists will be asked to attend the following events (Sunday, February 23, is the only mandatory commitment, however attendance to all will be encouraged to get the full benefit of this project):
- An introductory meeting, Thursday February 20 (time TBD)
- Jennifer Buchanan's keynote address, Friday February 21 (7:00 - 8:30)
-Jennifer Buchanan's workshop Saturday February 22 (time TBD)
- The Artist Collaboration Workshop and Performance, Sunday February 23, (12:00 - 6:00)
To apply, artists are asked to submit the following in a email:
