Folk Workshop presented by Jessica Heine – Saturday, July 21 @ 12:00-12:45pm

What is folk music?  Where does it come from?  Can anyone be a folk singer/musician?
This workshop explores these questions with a focus on general perceptions of folk music and how that perception shapes what is and isn't folk music today.
Rock Workshop presented by Veronica Johnny of The Johnnys - Saturday, July 21 @ 1:00-1:45pm

Veronica outlines an easy way to find notes and power chords fret by fret.
Learn basic power chords & bar chords to begin rocking out in no time!
Learn simple rock song structures so you can begin writing our own rock anthems.
Fun rock performance techniques to help improve your stage show.
How using effects pedals can add to your playing and sound.

Gospel workshop presented by Rick Poltaruk of Rick and the Relics - Saturday, July 21 @ 2:00-2:45pm

Want to understand an old music style in a new music world. Gospel Music is no longer what was written two hundred years ago. It is about lifting hearts in today's music market. Come out and have some input in a music genre that always puts a smile on the hearts land faces of those that listen.
Gospel. Much more than just music. It is blues, country, bluegrass, folk, rock.... It is music with an attitude.

Performance Workshop presented by Veronica Johnny of The Johnnys - Sunday, July 22 @ 1:00-1:45pm

Entertaining is about having fun and moving your body - learn how to involve your audience.  Veronica will share visualization exercises and relaxation techniques to help you get on stage with confidence and ready to perform your best.
Rehearsal is key to performing well and she'll detail things to keep in mind when practicing.
What is "image" and how to make it work for you, your stage performance and your marketing.
How equipment can add to your overall performance.
Extra ways to ensure a good show including introducing yourself to the sound tech and to always treat them with respect.

Youth Workshop presented by Veronica Johnny of The Johnnys - Sunday, July 22 @ 2:00-2:45pm


Learn techniques to help boost self esteem and how to exude confidence on and off the stage!
Veronica will share stories of struggle and how to maintain your drive and inspiration.
She'll also share ways to maintain the belief that you can do anything you put your mind to, through affirmations, imagination and visualization.
Belief in yourself and your abilities begins with learning what you have control of, Veronica will share ways she has overcome her own self-defeating beliefs and how she changed them.
There will be handouts and a short discussion of music funding sources directed at youth.


Song Writers Circle presented by Amanda Dei and Mel Leonard of The Break Up and Paul Cressman of Hindsite – Sunday, July 22 @ 3:00-3:45pm

Please join NWT New Democrats this Friday,July 13th, at the Sombe Ke' Park, to help raise money for the Nahanni Relief Fund.
NDP MPs, Olivia Chow & Dennis Bevington, will be on hand to meet & greet with the public to raise awarness about the devastation caused by the Nahanni flooding. All donations will go directly to those affected by the tragedy.
If there are any local musicians who are willing to volunteer their time & talent we welcome you to perform at this event.
Free beans and wieners will be served!!!
